For the past few nights, I have
been kept awake by a screeching bird which was settled on the bedroom Dorma
window roof and then on the electricity wires right outside the window. It was
dark and the blinds were closed so I got out of bed to investigate; I assumed
it was one of the adult Tawnies that had seen spotted over the last week. I
found this cute and fluffy Tawny chick calling for food/attention. It flew from
the roof to the wire and then turned to stare me down while continuing
with its rather unneighbourly calls.
The feathers confirmed this was a young bird and definitely not the moulting adult male or female of recent days (Henry and Henrietta).
I only had my phone with me, and it was already dark so the quality of the video is pretty bad, but this is another 'first' for me, so happy to have been able to capture the moment! - I'm hoping my new neighbour will be a little more considerate this evening.
